Father's Day Steak: Tips For Cooking a Mouth-Watering Steak

It's a trite, but often repeated saying: The way to a man's heart is through his stomach. So why, when Father's Day rolls around, do we buy endless ties and "message" T shirts? Is the way to his heart through his clothes? Not likely. It's the stomach, people, and that means good food. For many men, good food comes in the form of a great steak.

So what if you're not a steak eater, or you eat it only in restaurants and the thought of purchasing a raw slab scares you to death? Fear not. It's not that complicated, really. Even a caveman can handle this job.

Book For Men

It's important to know your cuts of meat before planning the menu. You don't want to cook the dad in your life a tasteless, tough piece of leather. You might not notice the difference, but let's face it - he will. Since you'll likely be grilling, it's important to know the best cuts of meat for the grill.

Father's Day Steak: Tips For Cooking a Mouth-Watering Steak

You want to choose the most tender portions of meat for grilling. Experts generally consider these cuts of beef to be the best for grilling:

- Rib Eye

- T-Bone

- Porterhouse

- Strip steak (like New York steak)

If there is the word "loin" on the package, you're in good shape, though most grill experts agree the T-bone is the most superior cut of beef for grilling. It stays tender and juicy, and is thick enough to withstand a fair amount of time on the grill without overcooking. Stay away from top round or anything with "round" or "chuck" in the name. These will not cook well on the grill. Flank steak and London broil can also be tough.

Next, it's important to know how to choose a steak. Don't just grab the first package that looks good to you. Look for some good marbling in the steak. Yes, this is another word for fat. But we're not cooking for the dieter in the family on this special day, we're trying to give dad a good steak, remember? Those little bits of fat scattered about the steak will essentially melt while the meat is cooking, giving the meat a rich and more tender flavor.

In that same vein, don't trim the fat from your steak before cooking. It might be the diet book author in you coming out, but that thick layer of fat around your steak is what will give the steak a wonderful juicy quality and rich flavor. You can cook the steak, and then trim the fat, but cook the steak while it's still dressed in its fat clothes. It's worth it.

Do you need to buy a "name brand" steak? Experts say it's not necessary, even though branded meat is a new commodity and becoming more widely available. Nor is it necessary to choose a steak from a butcher shop or from behind the glass window in the meat department at your local grocery store. Usually the pre-packaged steaks are the same you would get from behind the glass, and since the butcher is a dying breed, you could certainly go that route if you have a neighborhood butcher, but if not, a good quality grocery store will provide what you need.

Finally, it's important to know your grades of steak.

- Prime is the top grade, and it features the most marbling and is the most tender, but most of us don't have access to this grade in mainstream grocery stores. This is often what you get in a restaurant.

- Choice is the best grade most of us can get in the grocery store. But choice does not guarantee high quality as this grade encompasses meat that can be almost as good as prime, or almost as bad as select, our next grade.

- Select beef is the most lean and least expensive beef and is the grade of beef most commonly found in your grocery store meat case. Since this is Father's Day, try to find choice and splurge a little.

If you are unsure about your ability to pick up a good steak locally, consider ordering online and having fresh, high-quality steaks delivered to your door.

At OmahaSteaks.com, you can buy a large variety pack of meat, grill some for dad, and then send him home with a few spares for another day. KansasCitySteaks.com offers prime quality steaks for a restaurant-quality dad's meal.

9 Fun Facts About Dating and Relationships You Might Find Interesting

Dating doesn't always have to be complicated and hard. It can often be light hearted and easy going. I have researched some fun and interesting facts about dating that might just surprise you. At the very least they should make you chuckle.

1. I am not sure about this one myself, but apparently an astounding 71% of people out there believe in love at first sight... In that case it might not be wise to continue doing shopping in your pyjama bottoms.

Book For Men

2. According to various surveys, 3 of the most important features looked for in a potential date are: A good personality (30%); A sense of humour (14%); A great smile (12%).

9 Fun Facts About Dating and Relationships You Might Find Interesting

Believe it or not looks only come in at 4th place (11%)... Hmm, maybe we can all give the hair straighteners and hair gel a rest for a while?

3. Very few people actually manage to find a relationship in a bar, which is one of the most favoured methods used when trying to meet someone... Damn! Does that mean we need to find other excuses to frequent them outside of happy hour?

4. Over 50% of people who have participated in a survey have admittedly dated more than one person at the same time... Tsk! Tsk!

5. Around 30 % of people who break up or get divorced do so because someone in the relationship has been unfaithful... Oh dear!

6. Again, I am not too sure about this one, but supposedly the average person will generally go on about 100 dates (not necessarily all with different people mind you) before settling down or getting married... I lost count, but it could be about right.

7. When it comes to age difference around 44% of single people say that 5 years is the biggest acceptable age gap in a relationship. Further to that 24% say that up to 10 years is the acceptable and only 8% say that age does not matter... This is definitely a bit of a grey area.

8. In certain areas there were laws passed which have stipulated that flirting is illegal. In Little Rock, AR an antiquated law is still on the books warning people that engaging in playful banter may result in a 30-day jail term. In New York City, another outdated law mandates that men may be fined for gazing lasciviously at a female; a second conviction stipulates the offender would need to wear a pair of blinders whenever he goes out for a walk... Thankfully we now live in 2010!

9. In the Victorian era, fans (the beautifully decorated hand held type ones) were the ultimate playful prop that could communicate all sorts of messages. For example; A fan placed near to the heart meant 'You have won my love'; A half-opened fan pressed to the lips suggested 'You may kiss me'; Hiding the eyes behind an open fan meant, 'I love you'; Opening and closing the fan several times was not a positive sign and often the message being portrayed meant 'You are cruel'...Whose bright idea was it to invent electronic fans and air conditioning?

I trust you will have found this article entertaining and insightful. Although I am sure that the statistics used could just have easily have been made up I am also sure that these weird and wonderful facts could also come in handy as ice-breakers should you be stuck for something to say on your next date.

I wish you all the best with your future dating endeavours.

"The Children's Blizzard" by David Laskin

David Laskin's meticulously researched novel of the Dakota/Nebraska blizzard of 1888 is a heart-wrenching yet beautiful work of literature. He painfully describes the struggles of early settlers from Norway, Sweden and German Russia as they left their homes and countries behind for the promises of easy and fertile farming in the Great Plains of the United States, along with the monetary rewards for their labors. These emigrants found life here not to be anything like the U.S. railroads had ensured, for it was their brochures that lured people across the seas. Land was abundant and free, but many settlers still struggled through harsh seasons. Laskin follows several families from the beginning of their sojourn to the harsh reality of their destination.

Laskin's portrayal of the Signal Corps, which served as the weather forecasting entity of the time is very reminiscent of Erik Larsen's phenomenal Isaac's Storm. The Signal Corps at the time of the blizzard of 1888 and the Galveston hurricane of 1900 (Larsen's work) was rife with politics, drama and bureaucracy. Regulations had to be followed to the letter. Words like "cold front" and "hurricane" were only to be used under strict circumstances or forbidden entirely. The men of the Signal Corps, who took daily readings of temperature, barometric pressure and wind speed, were often arrogant to the point of delusional. So confident were they in their abilities to predict the weather that they felt the weather phenomenon had ceased to be a mystery. The main observer in The Children's Blizzard does not or refuses to recognize the clear and concise data that is available to him that a massive and dangerous blizzard is descending from Canada. Just like the Signal Corps in Galveston that fateful September in 1900 who considered the Cuban weather observers to be far less knowledgeable than them and actually tried to suppress information from Cuba that an enormous hurricane was heading for the Texas Gulf Coast.

Book For Men

What makes The Children's Blizzard much more tragic, even though a more deadly blizzard struck New York City a few years later, was the fact that so many of the Dakota/Nebraska victims were children. The storm hit on an unusually warm day in mid-January just as school was let out for the day. Scores of children were caught unaware on the open plains. Some were lucky and found shelter and safety. So many were not and froze to death.

"The Children's Blizzard" by David Laskin

Laskin interviewed survivors' descendants and scoured hundreds of historical records, newspaper accounts and genealogical charts to piece together an hour-by-hour, minute-by-minute recreation of the unfortunate settlers as the ferocious storm hit, changing their lives forever. He tells the stories of teachers trying to save students, frantic parents wandering out in the storm to find children and siblings trying to protect each other as the blizzard became so violent that survivors said that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

It is heart-breaking to read the accounts of men and women who lost children after thinking they were safe at school only to find their frozen bodies the next day. Laskin pulls no punches in describing parents' grief in the days following the disaster.

Fortunately the Great Plains have not known a tragedy like this since weather forecasting models can more accurately predict weather patterns and warn citizens ahead of time. Modern technology has also advanced such that severely frost bitten or frozen people may be resuscitated. Had such conveniences had been realized then, the death toll would certainly have been lower.

Laskin's acknowledgements and sources, which are cited at the end of the book, are nearly as exciting as the story itself. The resources he relied upon to reproduce such intricate tales seems almost insurmountable. But in The Children's Blizzard, Larsen weaves a story that feels like a suspense novel but tugs hard at the heartstrings.

Midlife Crisis Stages

In his book Men in Midlife Crisis, Jim Conway applies Elizabeth Kubler-Ross's stages of Grief with adjustments to Midlife Crisis (MLC).

Stages of Grief: Kubler-Ross Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance
Stages of MLC: Conway Denial Anger Replay Depression Withdrawal Acceptance

Book For Men

According to Conway, Midlife Crisis ranges on average from 2-7 years. The crisis often begins slowly, beneath detection from outside sources. Anger follows in the failure of Denial. This then leads to the Avoidance that is Replay, ensuring the transition becomes a crisis. Denial attempts to maintain; midlife avoidance pursues lost youth via regression, falsely creating greater distance to death.

Midlife Crisis Stages

The application of stages is useful, but also has the negative effect of false security in the idea that they create a predictable Map. Each person's journey will have similarities as well as great variation. The early stages are most similar, with greater divergence deeper in the Midlife Tunnel. Archetypal themes are the predominate forces driving the crisis in the beginning; but as each person progresses, his personal lost fragments surface, yielding divergent pathways.

There is also a danger in viewing the stages as ordered steps in the process. Literal terms for the stages, such as those used by Conway, can be confusing when describing emotions and conditions which are not isolated to the stages they reference. Midlife Crisis is about Denial and Depression; both of these permeate all stages. Overt and Covert Depression are an overarching theme of the journey. Neither of these is isolated to certain stages. The same is true of Anger, which is often an outward expression of Depression.

Replay is Conway's only metaphorical term, so named because at this point, the Midlifer seeks to return to his lost youth, reliving such experiences "One More Time." This Fantasy phase invades all areas of life. For some it is re-experiencing previously fulfilled dreams to prove youthful vigor and capabilities, for those whose dreams were unfulfilled, the youthful regression may be even more severe. It is a different type of Denial-rather an Escape in which there is an admission of Midlife and aging, yielding an attempt to flee the inevitable through youthful regression. Many Midlifers in Conway's Replay stage spew venomous anger and hatred at their spouses. This anger differs from Conway's label of Anger which refers to general Anger with God and Life; the Victim's Why Me? cry at the unfairness of life.

In his book In Midlife A Jungian Perspective, Murray Stein identifies three stages of a Midlife Transition.

Separation Liminality Reintegration

Since a Midlife Crisis is a Midlife Transition of catastrophic levels, the transition stages must be a part of the Crisis stages. I will use the stages outlined below. These are not a Map, but rather a loose structure for the process of growth. The phases cycle and recycle throughout the Midlife Journey. For this reason the main phases may be viewed as a loose order, but the subphases are synergistic characteristics rather than ordered steps.

Separation may begin with Rejection & Refusal, but these do not end to allow for Resentment which in turn does not end to allow for Replay. Replay is the result of the integration of Rejection & Refusal and Resentment. Replay is Covert Depression-a denial of depression-which leads to anger as rage or stoicism with outbursts of rage. It is a snowball effect, with each characteristic adding to the others to create Separation. I call the Depression stage both Liminality and Liminal Depression because it makes it something less dangerous or frightening-rather than something wrong as is commonly considered; instead it is a time for self contemplation where a person retreats inward.

A midlife transition is the bridge between Accommodation, the life before midlife, and Individuation, the life path following midlife. It is Liminal; the MLC phase of Liminality is a midlife transition. Separation is a mini phase of preparation for Liminality and its MLC characteristics may not be present; Rebirth and Reintegration are mini phases of preparation for reentrance into the world and Individuation. In MLC denial of the transition leads to a prolonged Separation phase which may be longer than Liminality. Growth and development-progress-is a function of Liminality.

Successful Self Employment - How to Create a Profit Center For Your Home Based Business

I'm in the process of creating a new profit center for my business. And I thought it might help you to read about the four steps I'm following to create a successful (and fun) profit center.

1. Write out a vision for it. I know...I know. You don't think this is important. I'm telling you...if you're not willing to do this step then you are, 1) not committed to creating this profit center and, 2) setting yourself up for failure. Albert Einstein was no dummy when he said "Your imagination is your preview of life's coming attractions."

Book For Men

You are able to relive a past experience vividly in your imagination, can't you? Well you can also get a preview of upcoming attractions with that same mind. Denis Waitly, one of the great speakers on the topic of success says, "The more vivid the image, the more real the design for the future."

Successful Self Employment - How to Create a Profit Center For Your Home Based Business

You can use a beautiful journal notebook dedicated to your new profit center or you can create a Word document journal. Take time to write out this vision. Get a picture of where you are working in this vision, the time of day, who you are working with, activities you are engaged in, and how you feel at the end of the day. What will having this extra income do for you? Imagine how it will feel when you pay off debt, or have a dream trip, or buy some things you've been longing for.

2. Decide how much money you want to bring in from this profit center in the first year, then the 2nd and 3rd. Now double those figures. I know from experience that most of you shot too low in your first projection. I recently went to a conference where most of the audience were self employed men. In a conversation with one guy, I shared that I was doing ok...I was making six figures...he didn't miss a beat and said to me, "each month?" Ok - money isn't the only measure of success but I KNOW that you can bring in more than you think.

3. What will you need to do to make this happen?

Danielle Steele, the prolific fiction author, wrote many of her books during the night hours -she and her husband have eight children between them and she vowed to give the kids quality time during the day. If she can do it, you can too. If you are working full-time and want to grow a profit center on the side...you might just have to stop watching some t.v. or playing computer games or checking email 20 times a day...you know what your time wasters are. Find one you can live without or cut back on and use that time each day, five days a week to grow your profit center.

What will it take to bring in the level of income from your new profit center in the first year? Get specific and concrete. In my new profit center, if a certain type of writing project typically brings in ,000 and I want to bring in ,000 in the first year, I know that I'll need approximately 10 projects in the first year.

Then break it down further -I'd need 1 project a month. Then what will it take to get the projects? Do some research; find out how to reach the clients/customers you're looking for. Then create a plan to find them and get the projects/clients etc.

Ask yourself, what do I need to do this month toward my goal? What do I need to do this week? And what can I do TODAY to move this goal forward? Create YOUR plan!

4. Who will support you in this profit center? Remember...dreams die in isolation. So share your plan with at least one supportive person. And, get help if you need it. Don't let the lack of a piece of information stop you -use the internet or pick up the phone and call someone to ask for help.

Research your idea on the internet; find professional associations dealing with it, read articles about it. I found an information product through a trusted source that was created by someone who is already successful in the area - so I purchased it -it will save me incredible time in research and will save me from making some mistakes. I am in coaching groups where I can get support, ideas and be held accountable. I know I'll succeed and have fun in creating this new profit center. As Dolly Parton said, "When I'm inspired, I get excited because I can't wait to see what I'll come up with next." I'm excited for you and look forward to hearing about what you come up with next!

The Body's Energy Centers

Eastern philosophy and medicine, originating in ancient India and China, have traditionally regarded body structures and the life processes occurring within as inseparable. Their terminology resides halfway between structure and function and identifies certain entities in the human body, representing the flow of life energy and, in some sense, conduits for that flow that do not correspond to anatomical structures recognized by Western science and medicine. The chakras are the energy centers in a person's biological field and are responsible for his or her physiological and psychological condition as well as certain groups of organs. All vital functions of the human body are determined by energy that spins in the chakras. These can be defined as "whirlpools referred," and in Indian, they are considered "energy bursts" or "wheels."

The process of energy transformation happens exactly in these centers. Vital energy, along with blood, circulates around the meridians in the chakras and fuels all organs and systems in the human body. When the circulation in these meridians stagnates, the human body becomes susceptible to various disorders. An excellent preventative method, designed explicitly to battle such stagnation is Chi Gun, an ancient Chinese method for self-healing which activates the energy centers. Chi Gun teaches people to release the energy themselves by massaging specific areas corresponding to the different chakras.

Book For Men

There are 49 chakras mentioned in the Vedic Canons, seven of which are basic; 21 are in the second circle, and 21 in the third circle. According to the Vedis, there are multiple energy channels leading to different locations from the chakras. Three of these channels are basic. The first one, called "shushumna," is hollow and is concentrated in the spine. The other two energy pathways, "ida" and "pingala", are located on either side of the spine. These two channels are the most active in most people, while "shushumna" remains stagnant.

The Body's Energy Centers

The seven basic chakras spin at high speeds in the body of healthy individuals but slow down in times of sickness or with advancing age. When the body is in a harmonious balance, the chakras remain partially open. Closed chakras are unable to receive energy, leading to various disorders.

The first basic chakra, "Muladhara," is located at the base of the spine in the tailbone area. Life energy, which is at the core of a strong and healthy immune system, is stored in this chakra. It is impossible for a person to become sick, old or even to die, before exhausting his or her reserves of this vital energy. The very will for life is controlled by Muladhara. It is also in charge of the bones and joints, the teeth, the nails, the urinogenital system and the large intestine. The first symptoms of a malfunctioning Muladhara are unreasonable fear, faintness, lack of security or faith in the future, leg and foot problems, and intestinal disorders.
The interrupted activity of the Muladhara chakra causes lack of energy, digestive problems, diseases of the bones and spine, and nervous tension among others.

The second chakra, "Svadhistana," is located at the level of the sacrum, three or four fingers below the belly button. This chakra regulates the pelvis, the kidneys and sexual functions. We also feel other peoples' emotions through this chakra. Symptoms of a malfunctioning "Svadhistana" are kidney problems, cystitis and arthritis.

The third chakra, "Manipura," is found in the solar plexus area. This chakra is the center for storing and distributing energy produced by digestion and breathing. It is responsible for vision, the gastrointestinal system, the liver, the gall bladder, the pancreas and nervous system. Symptoms of a stagnant "Manipura" are as follows: increased and constant worrying, as well as stomach, liver and nervous disorders.

The fourth chakra, "Anahata," also called the heart chakra, is located in the chest area. We generate and receive love through this chakra. It is in charge of the heart, the lungs, the bronchi, the hands and the arms. Symptoms of stagnation include depression and cardiovascular imbalances.

The fifth chakra, "Vishudha," is located at the throat level and is the center of analytical skills and logic. This chakra sustains the skin, organs of hearing, along with the trachea and lungs. Symptoms include a lack of emotional stability, discomfort in the cervical spine, soar throats, difficulties communicating, and esophagus and thyroid ailments.

The sixth chakra, "Adjna," is located between the eyebrows and is called the "third eye." Here is the throne for the human brain. "Adjna" circulates energy to the head and pituitary gland and is also responsible for determining our harmonious development. If a person's "third eye" ceases to function properly, one might notice a decrease in intellectual ability, headaches and migraines, earaches, olfactory illnesses, and psychological disorders.

The seventh chakra, "Sahasrara," is found at the very top of the head and represents the apex where an individual's energy vibrates with the highest frequency. It is considered a spiritual center and the entrance to the body for cosmic energy. A stagnant "Sahasrara" can result in a decrease in or lack of inner wisdom, as well as a lack of basic intuition.
With this basic knowledge of the first seven chakras, we can address the question: "How do we use this information to locate the causes of our troubles and problems, and with the help of Eastern Medicine, learn to control the functions of the chakras ourselves?".

From the perspective of Eastern Medicine, our health depends on the distribution of our energy-consciousness informational field. A shortage of energy inevitably causes ailments. According to Tibetan Medicine, the only difference between youth and old age, and between a sick and healthy individual, is the difference in the rotating speed of the whirlpool energy centers of the chakras. If these different speeds are balanced, old people will rejuvenate and sick people will heal. Therefore, the best way to preserve and keep our health, youth and vitality is to restore and maintain a balanced movement of the energy centers.

The easiest way to keep the chakras balanced is through a set of physical exercises. Yannis called these not simply exercises, but rituals. These rituals allow the human body to mold its energy centers to an ideal level of function. The seven rituals, one for each chakra, must be performed together every morning and when not possible, in the evening. Skipping rituals unbalances energy distribution, and so for the best results, no more than one day per week should be missed. The daily chakra rituals are necessary not only for revitalizing the body, but also for achieving success in every facet of life. "Once you learn how to transform your energy, you will also become happier," concluded Yannis.
For learning these rituals (which have transformed many peoples' lives throughout the world), seeing them in action is much more effective than trying to follow written descriptions or diagrams. A DVD, available from Helix 7, Inc. (www.FeelingOfHappiness.com), includes actual demonstrations of these rituals.

Another method of keeping the chakras balanced and in their optimal half-open state is meditation. Meditative methods are universal to the human experience; they have accumulated over the ages through many different cultures and have proven their value in attaining peace, clarity, equanimity and in transcending despair. People who meditate on a regular basis are usually calmer, more secure, more joyful and more productive human beings. They are more effective in their everyday lives because they use their mental and physical potential, abilities and skills to their fullest extent. All too often, we humans fail to realize the great latent powers which are, as yet, unawakened in our bodies. We must learn how to revive and utilize them. This can only be achieved through meditation. Eastern men of wisdom, who believed meditation to be a vital necessity, stumbled on this discovery more than 1000 years ago. They learned to influence their inner organs and control their metabolism with the power of their minds. Meditation is to the mind what exercise is to the body; mental strength can be built up just like physical strength. Just as in athletics, it is important for an individual to train his or her body, it is important for an individual to train his or her mind through meditation.

The best time for meditation is early morning, preferably at dawn. Do not meditate when you are sad, aggravated, desperate or sick, because these intense emotional and physiological distractions make an enlightened state of mind impossible. For an effective meditation session, it is preferable to arrange for the undistracted silence of a quiet, clean room with flowers, or the soothing sounds of Mother Nature - near a lake, river, waterfall, woods or fields.

Many different mental practices, having their origin in historical traditions, fall under the general heading of "meditation." These paths of mental development can involve emotional and intellectual facets and may also be coordinated with specific movements. Meditation can be structured or unstructured, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer writes in his book Real Magic, "The process of meditation is nothing more than quietly going within and discovering that higher component of yourself ... Learning to meditate is learning how to live rather than talking about it..."

An Identity Crisis

"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God's] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light." (1 Peter 2:9 AMP)

The preceding scripture introduces an undeniable, yet seemingly misplaced truth about the Christian believer. Somewhere along the way we have lost our direction and our identity.

Book For Men

Those of you that are familiar with me are aware that I was reared by my grandparents. I had a limited relationship with my mother and I never met my father. As much as my grandparents loved me, they never interfered with my quest to unite with my mother and father, in fact, they encouraged it.

An Identity Crisis

I can remember overhearing phone conversations between my grandmother and mother. My grandmother would literally beg my mother to assume a more active role in my life. Unfortunately, that never happened. My grandmother would arrange meetings with my father so that I could get to know him, but he never followed through. As I mentioned in chapter one, my father passed away when I was fourteen. My mother and I have attempted numerous times to develop a deeper relationship, but the pain and scars of the past have proven to be an indomitable impediment.

This is not to say that I harbor any animosity towards either, my mother or father. However; I must acknowledge that irregardless to the intensive effort I have exhausted in an attempt to resist the negative effects of these non-extent relationships, I still find myself battling the demons of the past hurts I've experienced. Though I lack a definitive relationship with my mother, it was the total absence of my father that has caused the most damage emotionally.

My grandmother was a very affectionate and nurturing person. She filled in very effectively as a mother. My grandfather was not overly involved in my younger years. He was the provider and the head of the household type. His presence was definitely felt in a positive manner within the home. He never played catch with me, nor did he take me to the park to do all the things fathers do with their sons. I do not hold this against him in the least. In fact, there was never a time in my life that I doubted my grandfather's love for me.

My grandfather was born in 1902 and was 58 years older than me. His background and the generational divide played a role in our relationship. I am however, proud of the relationship my grandfather and I developed from my late teenage years until his death in 1992. During this time we became very close. He shared his wisdom and I shared my youth. We laughed and cried together. He routinely expressed sentiments he never expressed during my younger years. He told me that he loved me and that he was proud of me. These are the memories I cherish. In my relationship with my grandfather I also realized what I had missed by not knowing my father.

The role of a father far exceeds that of a provider. A father is a label giver, a role model, a standard bearer, and more. When I say a label giver, I am speaking of the father's ability to assist in developing a positive self-image within his children. A simple definition of self image is what a person envisions himself/herself to be. Why is self-image so important? Self-image is important because it has a direct impact on behavior and behavior has a direct impact on the outcome of a person's life.

How a person envisions themselves will determine their actions. For instance, if a person perceives themselves to be gifted and capable in a certain area in life, they are very likely to pursue a life within that arena, whether professionally or as a hobby. The reverse will also be true. Should a person perceive themselves to be incapable in any area of life, they will shy away from involvement in activities within that arena. These are simplified scenarios, but you get the picture. In psychology, the study of visionetics or self-imaging has shown that one of the ways we maintain our sanity is by proving through our actions that our perceived self-image is correct.

We cannot perceive ourselves to be one way but do something different and maintain our emotional stability; therefore, how we see ourselves is of immense importance.

Earlier, I alluded to the fact that fathers play a major role in their children's self-image. This is irregardless to whether they are absent or present. A father that is consistently present in the lives of his children has the opportunity to lend toward the development of a positive self-image, or they can by their words and actions assists in the development of a negative self-image. For instance, if a father spends quality time with his child as well as verbally affirming the child's worth, he is helping to establish a positive self image. Phrases such as, you're beautiful; you're smart; you are responsible; I love you; are all positive label givers. On the other hand, you're dumb; you're worthless; you're bad; you can't do anything right are obviously negative label givers. Now the absentee father can only be a negative label giver; by his absence, he is saying to his child, you are worthless, you are not worth my time or my love. An absentee father is sending a message to his child that will have a negative impact, with the residual affects carrying far beyond their childhood years.

Men, our children need us in so many ways. Our absence has created an entire generation that is suffering from an "identity crisis". We are such an enormous part of our children's identity that our absence has left them searching for an understanding of "self". They are looking for their identity in drugs, gangs, promiscuity, abusive relationships and more. They are reaching out trying to fill the void that was left when we walked away. We are a nation of broken homes and we must re-establish our position as leaders and protectors.

This country is crumbling under the weight of abandonment and irresponsibility. Crime is on the rise, prisons are being built at a rate that exceeds that of schools. Gang affiliations for youths are at an all time high. Teenage violence such as school shootings and hate crimes are on the rise.

I live in Houston, TX where a not long ago, a sixteen year old girl stabbed a teenage boy to death during a gang fight. She is now awaiting her second trial to determine her future. There were also two teenage boys who assaulted another teenager because of his race; subsequently they were sentenced to 90 years to life in prison.

There is a popular talk show that airs daily in which a large portion of its production is focused upon the errant lives of young teenage girls. These girls are normally brought to the show by overwhelmed mothers. The girls are disrespectful, violent, promiscuous, and generally out of control. The host of the show seems to be genuinely concerned and invites special guest and experts on the show to counsel these young girls. However, there is one thing in particular that baffles me; there is a question the host or the experts never ask, which happens to be the first question that enters my mind each time I view this type of segment: Where is the father? The father is never present and no one mentions him. I have found that absentee fathers are the common denominator in a plethora of social dysfunctionalities plaguing our country today.

No, I am not blaming the "Invisible Father Syndrome" for every social issue, but when the problems are traced to the source, IFS (Invisible Father Syndrome) ranks toward the top of the list.

There are many men like myself, who are victims of IFS and are dealing with their own pain and difficulties from not having a father present or having a father errantly present. This, however, cannot stand as an excuse to fail in our own paternal duties. I do not declare myself a perfect father; in fact I have fallen short in several areas. Not having the role model to pattern myself after left me deficient in some aspects of fatherhood. I consider myself a work in progress. As long as I am present, active, and willing, I can and will improve. The effort alone tells my children that I care; that dad with all his imperfections will always be there. This is how it was meant to be. As our children grow as a person, we grow as fathers.

There are many fathers to whom the words of this book will strike a chord. Right now you may be hurting, overwhelmed, angry and lost, but there is hope. Likewise, to those who have endured pain and loneliness due to the absence of your father, there is hope for you too. Malachi 4:6 says, "And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the hearts of the children to the fathers." (NKJV)

There are over 7,000 promises of a positive nature in the Bible. How interesting is it that the last promise of the Old Testament is one of restoration? God has promised to turn the hearts of the fathers toward the children and the hearts of the children towards the fathers. There is a revival on the horizon. seeking This rivival will seat men in their rightful positions in the home and the community.

This revival must take place before this nation can reverse its downward spiral toward moral decay; a nation full of dependent and codependent youth.

In the laws of divine establishment, God ordained four divine institutions through which those laws would function: The individual, the marriage, the family, and the nation. Each institution functions under the primary authority delegated by God. The individual functions under the authority of individual volition (self-will); the marriage functions under the authority of the husband; the family functions under the authority of the parents and the nation functions under the authority of the official government.

It is no coincidence that the man is given direct primary authority in two of four divine institutions, and is indirectly the functioning authority in the other two. This means that when we as men operate outside the will of God for our lives, the ramifications are far reaching. When we become spiritually corrupt, we corrupt not only ourselves, but we short circuit our marriages, we render our families dysfunctional and the nation as a whole suffers. R.B. Thieme Jr. says it this way; "When parents do not fulfill their responsibilities and children do not 'honor" their parents, the nation suffers from insecurity, instability and eventually loss of liberty. A Nation's disintegration begins in the family." (Thieme, Freedom Through Military Victory)

We as men have lost our identity and subsequently, families and children have lost their identities leading to an entire nation under an identity crisis.

The question then arises; can we overcome this crisis? Can we regain our identity? Can this country reassume the identity that once made us a great nation? The answer is simply: We must?

I often counsel young men from the inner city that are considered at risk. At risk means that these young men stand a greater chance of going to prison than enrolling in a University (U.S. Census Study). They are likely to die prematurely at the hands of another misguided youth. When questioning these young men I find that almost to a man, they believe in Christ. Some have accepted Him as their Lord and Savior. I tell these men that if they are still breathing, they are here for a reason.

These young men are from broken homes. Some were abandoned by their fathers, others have fathers that are incarcerated, and yet, others have lost their fathers to death by violence. They are bitter, angry, confused, but most of all, they are in need of direction. They need to know what it feels like to have a male role model, someone who cares. The young generation of today is crying out for fathers, whether biological or spiritual. Bishop Bart Pierce says we all need the covering of a spiritual father. He also says it is time to address the need for fathers; spiritual and natural. I concur; it is time as men and spiritual leaders in the community that we step forward. Too often in today's society we become content in waiting out problems in hope that they will rectify themselves. It is time to take a proactive approach in dealing with the serious issues of absentee fathers. It is time to step up.

The clarion is sounding. Who will answer the call?

6 Ways to Stop Your Wife Cheating Now

So you think your wife is cheating on you? You are not sure, maybe she is only thinking about cheating, but things are different and you are suspicious.

You can turn things around.

Book For Men

Do you know much about married women who cheat? Statistics show that wives cheat as often as men do, but they cheat for different reasons.

6 Ways to Stop Your Wife Cheating Now

So lets get to how you can stop your wife cheating. You need to go back to the days when you were dating her, before you got married. You need to start all over again. You need to compete with who ever she is having the affair with and win. Then you need to keep it up for life and you will never have to worry about her cheating again.

1: Start listening to her, really listen to her and be interested in everything she has to say. This means if you are watching TV and she comes in and wants to talk, turn the TV off. I bet you get a big positive reaction the first time you do this. You need to show her that she is very important to you, in fact, that she is more important than anything else in your life. Come home early if you can, spend more time with her. Organize a date night once a week just for the two of you. You book the restaurant, you organize the babysitter, you, tell her how beautiful she looks. Start to tell her about your feelings and how you would like to have your life in the future. Ask her what she would like for the future. Really start to engage with her and be a couple. These are the things that you can do to get your wife back. Start today.

2: Tell her how much she means to you. Tell her every day. Explain to her that you appreciate everything she does for you and your children. Thank her for the meals she prepares, thank her for being a great mother, thank her every chance you get.

3: Help her physically. Start doing the chores around the house that you haven't been helping with. Say you will look after the children while she has her hair done. Help her carry things. Start offering to help with the dishes, do the vacuuming, just start really helping her wherever you can. These acts of service will be much appreciated.

4: Start buying your wife little gifts. Bring her home a red rose for no special reason. What about a big box of chocolates, or a teddy bear. Surprise her with gifts every day, they don't have to be expensive, they just need to show her that you are thinking about her and want her to be happy.

5: Give her a big hug. Start to show her plenty of affection. Now I am not talking about sex. That can come later. But for now, touch her hand, touch her arm, give her a big hug. Offer to give her a massage, make a big deal of it, warm the oil, light the candles, put on the relaxation music and give her the treat of her life. Then give her more hugs.

6: When you wake up each day think about how you can make today better for your wife and then put these things into action. How proud you will be knowing that your wife is the happiest person you know.

One word of warning! Once you do all these things your wife may think that you have changed so much because you are having an affair. Just explain that you have finally realized how much you love her and that you want to make the rest of your lives wonderful.

If you do all the things I mention here, you will make your wife happy. What more can you want?

4 Steps: How to Get Your Ex Girlfriend Back

After a breakup, some men find themselves looking for ways to get back together with their ex girlfriends. The minute the breakup is real, some men want to immediately reconcile with their ex again. Other guys need some time to be alone with themselves before realizing that they want their ex girlfriends back. And still, some guys are already in another relationship before they realize that what they really need and want is their ex girlfriend and not the current girl who they're with.

Whatever time differences these given situations may be, the ways on how to get your ex girlfriend back are similar. The important thing about these steps is how you go about using them.

Book For Men

Here are the four key steps that you should do to win your ex girlfriend back.

4 Steps: How to Get Your Ex Girlfriend Back

1. Keep your appearance in good condition - Look after yourself. Don't let yourself become overweight and unhealthy looking. If you are already overweight, you can do some routines to bring back your fit body. This will certainly get you high points in your ex girlfriend's rate. Usually, after a breakup, people go through a depression stage where they consume more comfort foods which, eventually, lead to gaining more weight and making your body out of shape. Don't allow this to happen, instead of comfort foods, hit the gym or do sports with your friends.

2. Getting your ex girlfriend back can mean that you have to keep yourself entertained - Go out and enjoy yourself with your friends. You can even go have some casual dates with other girls but let your date know the real score which is you just only want to enjoy yourself and you're not interested in a serious relationship.

3. Do a self-inventory about what truly happened that ended the relationship - Don't start justifying what you did and make excuses about the real reason of the breakup. If you realize that you are at fault, then you should apologize for it. Taking some blame for the breakup and accepting your role in it is a fine start on how to get your ex girlfriend back.

4. When the time comes that you are emotionally confident, level-headed, and have a healthy outlook on the whole broke up scenario, call your ex girlfriend and ask to speak to her - The first contact should not consist of pressuring her to get back together immediately. It should be kind of a test where you determine how the situation is. Make it subtle and just ask simple and general questions on how she is. If you think it's the right time, you can ask her to give you a second chance or you may have to give it a few more days before broaching the reconciliation subject.

If you find that you still need more guidance about the topic on how you can get your ex girlfriend back, you may want to check out some books on the internet about dating and relationships that you can get ideas from.

You Want to Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back? 5 Ways to Ruin Your Chances

So you want to get your ex boyfriend back? He's the guy for you, isn't he? You love him and even though you two aren't together right now, your instinct is telling you that's not always going to be the case. For now, you need to take a step back and figure out a plan to win back his love. During this time you really do need to be mindful of everything you do. One mistake and disaster will await you.

Here are 5 things you have to avoid if you want to get your ex boyfriend back:

Book For Men

Don't say a word about him to anyone.  You and I both know that you've been putting feelers out there trying to find out whether your ex has asked about you. You've been asking mutual friends and his family what's going on with him. Stop it! No more talking about your ex to anyone who may leak it back to him.

You Want to Get Your Ex Boyfriend Back? 5 Ways to Ruin Your Chances

Don't put your life on hold. See that amazing woman staring back at you in the mirror? She rocks! Live again, laugh again and start having fun. Putting your life on hold for any man is a recipe for relationship disaster. It may have been a break up but do not allow it to break your spirit.

Don't stop dating.  This is a tricky one but you should be taking a cue from your ex boyfriend's play book. If he's already moved on and is dating someone new, remember that all is fair in love and break ups. Obviously you're not going to get all serious with a new guy, but there's nothing wrong with enjoying yourself and showing your ex that other men find you desirable.

Don't have a pity party and invite everyone you know. Everyone has been through a break up and they know the emotional pain you're in. But if you go on and on about the break up each and every time you see anyone, you're going to notice your friends dropping out of your life like flies. Cry if you need to but do it alone. Let your friends bring your spirits up. Don't make them suffer because of your break up.

Don't speak before you think.  About that cell phone in your purse. Never use it when you feel the need to yell or berate your ex. If you feel an uncontrollable urge to call him and tell him how he ruined your life, put your cell phone down and go for a walk without it. Take some cool down time and when you come back, calling him won't seem so pressing.

Stay focused on not making a mistake if your goal is to get another chance with your ex. Once your emotions have calmed down and you feel emotionally strong enough you can set out on your plan to get him back.

Get Published! What Is a Hook and How Have Other Successful Authors Created Theirs?

In this article you will discover what a hook is and see successful hooks that other authors have created to make their books into top sellers.

What is a Hook?

Book For Men

Most people think the "hook" is the title and subtitle. But that's not quite right. A hook is the overarching concept or theme that will be used not only in your title and subtitle, but in every aspect of the book. The hook will shape the reading lines on the cover of your book, in your section and chapter titles, in the terms you use throughout the book, and the examples you use to illustrate your ideas. Your hook will also be translated into visual form through the design of the cover and inside page layout. Broaden your vision of a hook beyond the title and subtitle to include all other aspects of your book's structure, content, and promotion.

Get Published! What Is a Hook and How Have Other Successful Authors Created Theirs?

Two Great Examples

Here are some great hooks that can serve as inspiration for the hook you create for your book. Let's start with a title that has a pretty blatant hook to it:

1. Love, Lust, and Faking It: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies, and True Romance

Nothing subtle about that, right? It hooks readers-just about all readers-by referencing sex and lust, and by using eye-catching words such as "Naked" and "True Romance." If you knew that the author was Jenny McCarthy-a comedian known for her raunchy humor-this hook makes a lot of sense. Not only is she using a hook that will draw readers into her approach to comedy, she's also making an enticing promise--she's going to tell you the truth about romance.

Jenny McCarthy's book is promised to be an eye-opening. So she's baited her hook for those who are drawn by the salacious words, but also prompts them to buy her book by promising life-changing insight.

Now let's move onto another book about relationships:

2. Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus: A Practical Guide For Improving Communication and Getting What You Want in Your Relationships

What's in this hook? If you have trouble understanding your partner, it's only natural because men and women are so different that they're from different planets! The hook offers hope for bridging the gap between the two gender worlds with the big promise: "Getting What You Want in Your Relationships." The hook speaks to the frustration and despair of understanding a husband or wife, but holds out hope.

How to Bait Your Hook (Or Choose Your Words)

Words are to readers and a worm is to a fish-something that lures you to action. As you can see in both of these examples, the specific words and phrases aren't just picked out of thin air. You're not just picking neat-sounding words or crafting catchy phrases. For a hook to really land its fish, it's got to tap into a bigger concept that speaks to the needs of a particular audience.

A hook is comprised of words that mean something specific to your readers.

This might seem obvious, but it requires careful and creative thought to match your hook with your topic and your specific audience. As you brainstorm possible hooks for your book, always keep your audience in mind. Ask yourself, "How will my readers react to these words or phrase?"

Your goal is to create a sensational hook that prompts publishing professionals and readers to say, "This is a great idea and I want this book!" The better your hook, the better chance you have of getting a contract and selling a lot of copies once it's published.

Christ in Every Section of the Bible

The anticipation of Christ in the Old Testament includes the Law - the foundation, and the Prophets - the expectation.

The realization of Christ in the New Testament includes the manifestation in the Gospels, the interpretation in the Epistles.

Book For Men

The Law of Moses prefigured the basic types and patterns which were later fulfilled in Christ.

Christ in Every Section of the Bible

It was also a moral preparation - the law was man's tutor in what God demanded - whereupon guilt would lead them to Christ for forgiveness.

The Law also recorded the first Messianic hope in Genesis 3:15, and to the people of Israel in Deuteronomy 18:15.

The Prophets at the Expectation of Christ.

The promise was a prophet like unto Moses from among the Jews (Deuteronomy 18:15). First the promised land was possessed under Joshua. In Judges, many deliverers were seen. In Samuel, the anointing of King David through whom the 'anointed One' was promised (II Samuel 7:12). As the empire of Israel chose sin: Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and the Twelve minor prophets kept the promise of Messiah alive to the last book of the Old Testament (Malachi 4:2). Then the Jews returned to Israel from Babylonian captivity in Ezra, and reconstruction in Nehemiah.

The Gospels show the Manifestation of Christ. This begins with the ministry of one crying in the wilderness, that of John the Baptist (Matthew 3:3) as Isaiah had predicted (Isaiah 40:3). What was anticipated in the Old Testament realized in the New. Prophecy becomes history. He embodied the way of faith and hope in God (I Peter 1:20,21).

This was to take away sins (I John 3:5). Also to destroy the works of the devil (I John 3:3). Also to show the love of God manifest among men, that we might live through Christ (I John 4:9). This was to manifest the mystery hidden for ages and ages (Colossians 1:26).

Jesus came yet the world knew Him not. He came to his own home, yet His own people received Him not (John 1:10,11). To all those who received Him, who believed in His Name, He gave power to become children of God (John 1:12).

The Epistles and Acts interpreted Christ. They explained what His coming meant and how it was to be applied in the life of the believer. This was accomplished through the promised Holy Spirit who was to teach the disciples all things and bring to their remembrances all that Jesus had spoken to them.

The church from the beginning had devoted themselves to the teaching of the apostles (Acts 2:42). They were exhorted to hold to the traditions which were taught by the apostles (II Thessalonians 2:15). These were recorded in the Epistles and were added to the Gospels and Revelation, to form the New Testament.

To go into greater detail, the Testaments can be divided into four parts each:

The Old Testament
1. The Law (Genesis - Deuteronomy)
2. History (Joshua - Nehemiah)
3. Poetry (Job - Song of Solomon)
4. Prophecy (Isaiah - Malachi)

The New Testament
1. The Gospels
2. The Acts of the Apostles
3. The Epistles
4. Revelation

Parallels - In the Law, God laid the foundation for Christ. In History, the nation of Israel becomes active in the promised land, and the lineage through David, from which Christ will come, is established. The Poets aspire and express that longing and looking for Christ. The Prophets look forward in expectation of Christ.

The Law established God's presence among men symbolically - commandment, tabernacle, sacrifices, feasts, Christophanies. In the Gospels, God dwells among men in human form, in Jesus. The Law lays the foundation for the nation of Israel. The Gospels lay the foundation for the church. In the Law, Moses is the central figure who instructs God's people. In the Gospels, Christ teaches His followers to have faith in Him. The movement is from foundation to perfection. Hebrews 3:5,6 -

5 And Moses verily was faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;
6 but Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Parallels in the Histories and the Acts.

The Israelites became a nation and a force in the world, and they were more effective when they were true to God. In Acts, the church spreads far and wide, though heresies crept in. Old Testament History records the promise to Abraham that he would become a great nation 'through whome all the families of the earth shall be blessed.' By and large, Israel failed to be the channel of blessing to the surrounding nations. They hoarded the promises and built a wall of hostility. In New Testament history, Christ and His church broke down the wall, welcoming Jew and Gentile alike. The Gospel will continued to spread all around the world.

Parallels in the Poetry and the Epistles.

The poets looked for and longed for the Prophet and King promised by God. The Epistles explain and describe all blessings in Christ as High Priest. Both interpret the foundational truths they knew.

Parallels between the Prophets and the Revelation. Both are prophesy of Christ. The Old Testament predicts both the first and second comings. The New Testament records the first coming and predicts the second. Both Testaments end with the Second Coming of Christ.

Differences: Daniel was told that the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end (Daniel 12:9). John was told, 'Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book, for the time is near.' The Old Testament predicted the Coming of Christ. Revelation looks forward to the consummation of all things in Christ.

Christ as High Priest in the Epistles - Hebrews 2:17; 3:1; 4:15; 7:28.

Hebrews 2:17.
First mention of Jesus as our High Priest. He had to take on human flesh to become like His brethren, to be a merciful and faithful representative of the people, only without sin, to make reconciliation with God for the sins of the people. Verse 3:1 restates Christ as High Priest.

4:14,15.
As High Priest, Christ now in heaven pleads our case, representing us, being able to feel our infirmities, as He experienced temptation, yet without sin.

5:5-10.
A priest forever called of God a High Priest after the order of Melchizedek (in the Old Testament, Psalm 110:4).

7:1-28.
This chapter describes the history of Melchizedek dealing with Abraham. Then the Aaronic priesthood, one after the other - because they were mortal and passed away. Not so with Christ, Who continues forever, unchangeable, making intercession for them, able to save to the uttermost, those that come unto God.

Christ Presented in the Four Gospels:
Matthew presents Christ as King of the Kingdom of heaven (Zechariah 9:9) to the Jews: From the line of Abraham and David, the lion of the tribe of Judah (Ezekiel 1:10); the teaching is emphasized; He provides righteousness through His role as Savior.

Mark presents Christ as the Suffering Servant of God, especially to the Romans. The symbol of the ox; the emphasis is on what He did as God's servant and powerful Savior.

Luke's theme was Christ as man to the Greeks, from the ancestry of Adam, Who came as the second Adam, only without sin, to redeem mankind as the perfect Savior.

John presents Christ as God, the Living Word to the world, the very Son of God, from eternity. The symbol of the eagle, the expression of God's thoughts. The provider of eternal life as the Personal Savior.

The Acts: the Evangelization of Christ. Jesus had told His disciples to spread the Gospel to all nations. God had told Abraham that the end purpose of his people was the blessing of all nations. This was to be carried out in the spread of the message of the Savor. The outpouring of the Spirit began the proclamation in Jerusalem. Then persecution caused the spread into all of Judea and Samaria. With the conversion and missionary journeys of Paul, the Gospel of Christ was spread to the ends of the Roman empire and onward and outward.

The Epistles interpret and apply the Gospels of Christ to His church. They include the interpretation and application: the possessions believers have in Christ. Romans explains the Redemption which is in Christ Jesus: the righteousness of God imputed to man through faith in Jesus. I Corinthians emphasizes sanctification of the believer. II Corinthians explains the persecution, the sharing of Christ's suffering, but also His comfort.

Galatians emphasizes our freedom in Christ through love. Ephesians explains exaltation and unity in Christ, blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. Philippians shows joy in Christ, to glory in Christ, to rejoice in Christ. Colossians shows completion in Christ - to become mature in Him. Christ was and ever is the God-man - we are complete in Him. I Thessalonians exhorts the expectation - the hope we have in Christ Jesus. This expectation in Christ is confidence in what is yet to come. II Thessalonians - Glorification in Christ. May the Lord Jesus be glorified in you, and you in Him.

I Timothy - faithfulness in Christ, to fight the good fight of the faith. II Timothy - soundness in Christ. Avoid teaching that is not sound in Christ Jesus. Titus - steadfastness in Christ - to give instruction in sound doctrine - to be sound in faith, held firm to the sure Word.

Philemon - goodness that is ours in Christ. Hebrews - exhortation to perfection, better than everything in the Old Testament. Through Christ, the greater and more perfect tabernacle, by His sacrifice has perfected for all time those who are sanctified. James exhorts to wisdom in Christ, ask of God. Show your works in the meekness of wisdom. Wisdom from above is first, pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits. I Peter exhorts to submission, obedience, to Christ - and only then will you be approved by God. II Peter exhorts to purification in Christ - the righteousness of our God, and our Savior Jesus Christ, Who has granted all things that pertain to life and godliness through the knowledge of Christ.

I John exhorts to communion with Christ - if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, with God and Christ. Our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ. II John exhorts to a continuation in Christ - follow the truth and abide in it. III John exhorts to contribute for Christ - render service to the brethren. Jude exhorts contending for the faith - especially against ungodliness.

Revelation - consummation in Christ.

Let us review:
Anticipation of Christ in the Old Testament founded in the Law.
Preparation made for Him in History (the nation of Israel).
Aspiration for Him expressed in Poetry.
Prediction of Him in Prophecy.
Realization of Him proclaimed in the Gospels.
Evangelization of Him in the Acts.
Application and Interpretation for the believer in the Epistles.
Consummation of all things in Him in Revelation.

Christ, in the Gospels, is portrayed as the Prophet to His people, in Acts and the Epistles as priest for His people, and in Revelation as King over His people.

First, His incarnation (the Gospels), second His exaltation and proclamation (Acts and Epistles), third His eternal glorification (Revelation).

All things were created by Him. (Colossians 1:16.)
In Him all things consist. (Colossians 1:17.)
All things are held together by the Word of His power.
All things will be made new for Him.
All things will be consummated in Him.
All believers in Him will enter eternal salvation.
They will be His people and He will be their Lord.

The Revelation is of Jesus Christ: 1st of His person, 2nd of His possession (the Church) by the shedding of His blood, and 3rd His program of overcoming the world and the establishment of His kingdom among men.

Jesus is the living Word of God. 'In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...And the Word was made flesh...' - John 1:1,14. He is the Word of Life, and of Spirit, and of Truth.

Christ and Scripture have a dual origin. Christ is fully God and fully human. The Bible is inspired by God and written by man, in the words of men. As Christ is Sinless, so the Scriptures are also without error. Both are unchangeable. Both were brought into the world through the nation of Israel.

Both Christ and the Bible are described as faithful and true, as light, bread, power, unto salvation, cleansing, healing, nourishing, liberating, and eternal. To read and study the Bible is to learn of Christ. Knowing Him as Savior is eternal life to all believers.

Amen.

Dating Advice For Men (That Actually Works)

Want to hear more dating advice? Your friends and co-workers have probably suggested many different things to try, but do they really work? There can be good, sound advice for you to try and there can also be advice that even if acted exactly upon can still end up being awkward and heartbreaking.

There are many things a man can do to attract a woman. There are also many mistakes that can be made that a man needs to avoid when meeting and starting a conversation with a woman. Women try to sometimes "read" a man to see what their intentions are. If you come across the wrong way, you can blow your chances with her. You need to learn not only how to talk to her, but to hold her interest. You also need to be confident in the way you present yourself by using the proper body language. Women can read into that also and poor body language can be the first downfall to a potentially successful encounter.

Once you start dating her, you need to keep the spark going in your relationship. You need to learn the right way to socialize with her, proper touch so that she knows where you stand with her and the way to engage the perfect kiss that will make her wanting more. Learning all that you can about her and taking the selfishness aspect out of it can let her know that you truly are interested in what she has to say and about her life in general. The addiction that she has by wanting to always be around you can be very powerful and easily attainable. You never want to think about her cheating on you, so there are ways that you need to learn to not let that ever happen as there are things that can make a woman decide to cheat on you.

Sex and Evolution: Relationship Advice for Men

A lot of men get caught up by listening to women too much. By being their 'best friends'.

One of the big drawbacks of the advance in women's rights. Is that when it comes to relationships, we have forgotten how to be men. And the biggest mistake we make, has been treating women how they say they want to be treated. Rather than how they actually want to be treated.

Book For Men

The truth is, what a woman says she wants from a man is often the complete opposite of what she really wants.

Sex and Evolution: Relationship Advice for Men

For example...

A woman says she wants a man who listens to her.

She says she wants a man with a sense of humor.

But she dates a man who dominates the conversation. She dates the guy with money.

There lies the problem. If you only listen to what a woman says she wants, you will fail every time.

Here's why.

Unlike a man, every woman only has only 400 or so chances to conceive a child in her life. And, contrary to popular belief and Hollywood movies, the real motive behind every sexual relationship is not romantic love and happy ever after.

The true driver behind every relationship is immortality. In other words - to have children and pass on our genes successfully.

A good way to think about it is that a woman's mind (and ego) tells her to want one thing. But her mind is not in charge. Her body is. And her body wants successful babies.

The same is true for a man. Though in theory we have many more chances to conceive, and less to lose from a single relationship. Biologically speaking.

So, her body makes the decisions, while the mind is left to come up with excuses and justifications later on.

So what does this mean for you, in your quest for a satisfying and fulfilling relationship?

It means you need to pay less attention to what women say (and what they print in popular relationship books) and more attention to what women actually respond to.

And what do they respond to? Simply anything that shows you are a prime candidate for giving her successful offspring.

Including the ability to provide her and your offspring (i.e. The ability to make money).

Strength, displays of strength (strength is an indicator of ability to provide and protect, from our hunter-gatherer days) and the ability to protect.

And that's about it.

Everything else is really just icing on the cake. Such as a sense of humour, good looks, and all that stuff.

Ok, but what if you're not strong, and you're not rich, and if we're being really honest... you're not much to look at either?

Well, looks aren't really necessary (see Mick Jagger), and it so happens there is one trait that trumps both strength and wealth in the biological game. Although I always recommend working on both strength and wealth as well - but that's another article.

That super-trait is confidence.

Being able to display true confidence triggers a switch, which tells other people (including women) that you are a successful guy. Once this switch is flipped they will be more attracted to you, and (when it comes to women) more eager to have your babies.

In the past, back when brawn dominated brain. Showing confidence without the ability to back it up was risking your life. So confidence was reserved for alpha-males only.

These days, the risk isn't the same.

The problem is, trying to fake confidence rarely ever works. So forget trying to fool people. There is an element of 'fake it till you make it' involved, but true confidence has to come from a belief in yourself and in your abilities.

If you're interested, I'll share with you my secret of developing confidence even if you have none at the moment. In fact I might just write an article solely on the topic since I am running out of room here.

But here's the secret of the whole thing. You don't have to be great at everything. You don't have to have millions, bench press 500lbs, have a full head of hair, and drive a Mercedes.

You only have to be really good at one thing. From there, you can develop all the confidence you need. And then all you need to know is how to handle women (the right way) and you'll be amazed at the quality (and quantity - if you so desire) of relationships that you will be able to enjoy.
