Recently gunmen kidnapped 3 workers in the southern Philippines. The gunmen were dressed in camouflage stormed a plywood factory and abducted three workers. There were 20 assailants who broke through a wooden fence and took away three men from the factory. Al-Qaida-linked Abu Sayyaf militants are believed to be prime suspects in this recent abduction and ransom was the motive for the kidnapping. The Abu Sayyaf receives funds from al-Qaida and it's about 400 members strong.

Despite years of U.S. military training and assistance, Filipino troops have struggled to contain the militants, who have recently kidnapped workers, intensified attacks on Jolo, blowing up bridges, firing mortar shells and setting off roadside bomb.
