Non-Verbal Communication: Speaking Without Uttering a Word, Part 2

For years, one of the things that couples have struggled with was what they thought their spouse should have known, assumed, felt or otherwise just guessed, in an effort to appease their wishes or desires. This is not the case for many couples, whether married, dating, or living together - co-habitation in some cases. It would be much simpler to just share your thoughts, ideas and desires verbally rather than just wishing that the significant other just know by osmosis.

When it comes to intimate relationships, couples are very reluctant in sharing the things that they really want, desire, feel, and in some cases need. They would rather have their spouse or significant other figure things out for themselves as they frustrate everyone involved including themselves with these endless and aimless mind games.

Book For Men

Steve Harvey, the author of a book called, "Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man"was a bestselling book when it first came out. This book deals with relationships between men and women in a committed relationship or wanting to be in a committed relationship. The objective of the book was to try to help women understand what men really think about love, relationships, intimacy, and commitment and how to understand each other's non-verbal communication techniques. Harvey thinks that he has the key to the whole non-verbal communication concept. In his book, he explains that the act of love making is a very intimate form of non-verbal communication but that men and women see this act of intimacy very differently. Women view this act as an expression of true love in many cases where as men view it as just a physical act for many of them. It is up for debate as to ones own opinion of what the act of sexual intercourse and the intimacy between two individuals mean to each other. Hopefully, it is more than just a physical act and not something to be taken lightly.

Non-Verbal Communication: Speaking Without Uttering a Word, Part 2

Working in an office setting, I come into contact with applicants in search of employment on a regular basis. It is noticeable by how the applicant sits as they wait for their interview time, that they are nervous. You can detect their skill level, strengths, weaknesses and even concerns for the interview or job placement by their mannerisms as they wait. They will explore the entire office area with their eyes without leaving their designated seat. It is similar to an investigation process. Just watch the body language of someone being interrogated and see what their body language reveals. Watch for the lack of eye contact. This will reveal if they are being totally honest. If they stutter when speaking, they may not be completely upfront with their responses to questions being asked.
